BACKING UP YOUR
ONLINE BUSINESS

You should always think
ahead and plan recover your files if something
catastrophic should ever happen. For example, according
to hard drive manufactures they report about a 10 hard
drive to 1000 hard drive failure rate in the first three
months. While it is unlikely, drives do fail. For
virtual accounts developers should keep a copy of all
the files on their own workstation - just in case. For
dedicated server customers who must take responsibility
for their files, we offer several solutions and
recommendations. |

RAID Case - $95 per month per dedicated server.
This
is an excellent solution for hard drive failure. It
cannot be considered a solution for data recover,
especially when files change daily. It also protects
against the time required to bring a server back online
after a hard drive failure. Using RAID 1, three drives
are used - one drive is always out site of the server
stored in a cabinet for the drives. We believe a RAID
Case is much superior to a tape backup. A major risk of
tape systems is that even when all indicators point to
successful backups the tape restore can fail. |

Next generation
performance OS independent IDE RAID 1 solution
is here. This unit when installed in a 4U rack
will enable the drives to be removed without
shutting the server down. This allows, for
example, a third or forth off-line drive to be a
backup drive. Instead of storing a tape - you
can instantly recover a server by using the
backup drive. This enables a server to always
have a critical system recovery plan that is
fast and dependable.
Please note - you must have a 4U rackmount
server in order to accommodate the RAID Case.
